TACCSTER 2024: Texas Advanced Computer Symposium

Members of the FloDisMod team presented at the annual Texas Advanced Computer Center (TACC) symposium. Highlights included an invited talk by Professor Clint Dawson, “How HPC Revolutionized Storm Surge Modeling” and a poster prize award to Liting Huang for her work, “Simulation of Mosquito Population after Hurricane Harvey”.

The FloDisMod team had a number of presentations at TACCSTER 2024 symposium, held at the Texas Advanced Computer Center in Austin, Texas, September 23-25 2024. Professor Clint Dawson, the lead PI of FloDisMod, presented an invited talk, “How HPC Revolutionized Storm Surge Modeling”. Liting Huang, a graduate student who works with FloDisMod was invited to present a lightening talk about her poster, “Simulation of the Mosquito Population after Hurricane Harvey”. Her poster was also selected for a prize. In addition, two undergraduate students working with FloDisMod, Ira Narang and Stone Nwamadi, presented posters describing their work studying the effects of flood mitigation by natural barriers in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
