I am an undergraduate student at UTRGV majoring in Biology (Biological Sciences concentration), with an expected graduation in May 2026. I was born and raised in Brazil, where vector-borne diseases such as dengue and Zika are common, which sparked my interest in applying biology to address real-world health challenges while also considering environmental conservation and the needs of local communities. I joined the FloDisMod Project because it uniquely combines biology, design thinking, and community outreach to communicate complex scientific information in a clear and impactful way. After graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in biotechnology while continuing to use my remaining years of NCAA eligibility for volleyball.
