Professor Tamer Oraby was invited to be a J.T. Oden Faculty fellow for the Fall term in the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering & Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. The focus of his research is on harnessing the power of machine learning and deep learning to pioneer integrative approaches in dynamical systems, particularly to merge hurricane models with ecological and epidemiological models of vector-borne diseases. A key objective of the work will be to enhance the synchronization of machine and deep learning training across these diverse domains, ensuring that the computational models we develop are robust, accurate, and reflective of the joint timing inherent in these interconnected systems. This holistic approach aims to provide groundbreaking insights and tools for predicting and mitigating the impacts of natural disasters on public health.
